Our Funding Needs

Volunteers are working hard to raise additional support for several initiatives at the McEwen Centre, including the priorities below.  Contact us to learn more, get involved, or make a donation.

Postdoctoral Fellowships – These fellowships are awarded to support a young researcher who has recently completed a doctoral degree, working in the lab of a McEwen Centre scientist.  Donors are recognized with a fellowship awarded in their name.

Recruiting New Talent – Recruiting the world’s best scientists is critical to the Centre’s success.  We will compete globally to recruit the best and brightest McEwen Scientists.  We need to build on our existing talent with new expertise in Pancreas Repair for Diabetes, Bone and Cartilage Repair, Skin and Epithelium Repair, Adult Stem Cell Biology, and Embryonic Stem Cell Biology.  Donors are recognized with a named Chair awarded to a new recruit.

Toronto Stem Cell Facility – The McEwen stem cell facility will provide an abundant supply of different cell types including heart, blood, pancreatic and liver cells.  These cell populations will be used extensively by McEwen Investigators and their collaborators.  Donors will be recognized with a named component of the facility, to be located in the high-profile MaRS Centre, where the McEwen Centre is based.

Visiting Speaker Series – The McEwen Centre hosts several visiting scientists each year, arriving in Toronto to meet with McEwen Scientists and the local scientific community.  Each invited speaker is a leader in their respective field, and their visit is a high-profile event.  Support from donors and sponsors of each seminar (or the year’s seminar series) is gratefully acknowledged and displayed at each presentation.

Development Acceleration Awards – These Awards will target significant funds towards developing basic research discoveries along a pathway that could ultimately improve human health. The best projects, as reviewed by an expert panel, will be selected from among teams of McEwen Investigators and collaborators.
